VETERAN’S TRIBUTE:
Elk’s Lodge # 997 will be holding a Spaghetti Dinner on August
21, 2011 between 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The cost is a donation
of $10. All proceeds will go to benefit the Veteran’s Council of
Northampton “Tribute Tour” to Washington, DC in October. Your
donation will help send Northampton WW II and Korean Veterans
to Washington, DC. for an all-expense paid trip and tour of the
monuments and war memorials. This is a once in a lifetime
chance for our men and woman who entered the service from
Northampton who so proudly served our country. Tickets for the
dinner are available at the Lodge or by contacting
Gerry Clark or Greg Zak.
EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE:
Greetings members from the warm, no make that hot City of Phoeinx Arizona. Here at the Grand Lodge Convention, and still
looking for that “dry heat” you hear people talk about, at over a 110 degrees, it is still hot. There are over 6000 Elks here and a
wealth of information exchange. Proud to say that we are doing everything that the GL expects of us as a Lodge, and more. The
slogan of the Grand Exalted Ruler David Carr is that Elks Give from the Heart, something that our Lodge has done for a long
time. It was reported that the per capita for ENF last year was $6.61 per member was the largest amount in Elks history, greatly
exceeding the goal of $4.50 of last year. Thirty six resolutions to amend the Grand Lodge Statues are on the floor, and will report
on them when I get back. Our new District Deputy, Al Baj of West Springfield will be sworn in, and the new Esquire to the DD,
Joyce Grabon of Chicopee will be appointed as his Esquire.
Many thanks and rounds of applause for a very successful golf outing. The committee, as well as the any volunteers , again put
on a great event that was enjoyed by all.
Congratulations, and Thank You to David Lebeau, the July Elk of the month for all his hard work and contributions to the Lodge.
Fraternally,
John Glenowicz, PER

ATTENTION LODGE MEMBERS:
As you read this monthly bulletin, we are having a spaghetti
supper to support a trip to D.C. for our veterans. The date is
August 21st from 3-6 p.m. at the lodge. We will be serving many
meals and need your help. With all the cooking we will be doing
two shifts so people can take a break with all the cooking and
serving. If you have any time that day please stop in and help
out. Many hands make light work and there will be plenty to do
with prep work and clean-up. If you cannot make it how about
buying a ticket or donating some cash towards the food. Gerry
and I are always looking for cash or help to support our veterans.
