EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE:
Members,
It has been some time since I have written the message of the Exalted Ruler, but I am proud to have the chance to serve you
again. As we move forward in the upcoming year, I would like to thank all of you that have offered your time, and volunteered
to serve on the Committees of the Lodge, as well as the officers that have come forward. I would like to thank Richard Bart,
PER, for being my Leading Knight, as well as Wayne Blair as the Loyal Knight, and Susan Farrell for continuing as the
Lecturing Knight. Thank you to Raymond Capers, PER, for becoming the Esquire, and Louise Glenowicz for becoming the
Chaplain. I would also like to congratulate Mike Kolemba, Lodge Inner Guard who is entering his tenth year in this position. We
have GREAT committees working this year and if you would like to get involved, please let me know.
I welcome you to come to the Lodge, or back to the Lodge to participate in our many events and meetings. My phone is always
on, and if you have concerns or ideas, or just want to get involved, please feel free to contact me at 413-575-9828, or e-mail
elks997@yahoo.com. I will get back to you.
Fraternally,
John Glenowicz, PER
Exalted Ruler, 997
SECRETARY’S MESSAGE:
Welcome Spring!!!
I would like to congratulate all the new officers who were installed on March 26th. Congratulations! I look forward to a good
year working with all of you.
Unfortunately, I will be dropping 26 members from the rolls as of March 31st.
Dues are now due and the key lock has been changed as of April 1, so if you don’t have your new card you will have to be
buzzed in.
We will be having and indoctrination of new members on April 26th at 7:00 and initiation on May 3 at our regular meeting at 7:
00. All are welcome to attend. Speaking of attending, please come to our regular meetings the first and third Tuesday of
every month at 7:00 so you can be informed and know what is happening in your lodge.
Thank you to all those who voted again this year for me as secretary, it means a lot to me to know that you have the
confidence in me to do the job.
Sylvia Zakrzewski, Secretary
MAINTENANCE POSITION:
Duties include maintaining lights, kitchen equipment and machines, fans and vents, and general upkeep. Approximately 10
Hours per week @ $12 per hour. Full job description available from Steward. Interested persons should apply to the House
Committee no later than April 18th.
Do you know what our Mass. State Major Project is?
Each state has one and ours is scholarships. This is why we have a place for scholarship donations on our yearly bills.
Education is the key to success and the Elks of Massachusetts are committed to this project. We give thousands of dollars
through our scholarships each year so please give to our scholarship drive.
Jewish-American Night:
A reminder to all that tickets are available for just $12 each for our last Nationality Night of the season. With summer
approaching and people traveling, we will hold our Jewish-American Night on Tuesday May 10th. Please join us for what is
always a wonderful evening filled with lots of delicious food. This will be the final one until we resume the schedule with
Farmer’s Night in September.
Also, a reminder, a committee is forming to review the Nationality Nights and try to breath new life into them. If you interested
in taking part, please contact John Glenowicz or Barbara Franklin
Horse Shoes:
It is that time of year! Spring is in the air and the horseshoes will be, too! Sign up for our Monday night league. We will be
starting on Monday April 18th. We play at 6:00 pm and the league runs for 10 weeks. If you have any questions, see Al
Scott. Hope to see you there!
Buck-a-Week Dinner-
The biannual Buck-a-Week dinner and drawing will be held
Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Lodge. Please notice that
the date is on a Thursday, not a Friday. This change is to
accommodate our caterer. Dinner will be served at 6:30
PM. Due to the popularity of this function and in order to
accommodate as many people as possible, only ticket
holders may participate. Unfortunately, guests can no
longer be invited. Also, it is mandatory that if you plan to
attend you make a reservation prior to the cut-off date of
Friday, April 22, 2011 at 5:00 PM. Because of the limited
seating capacity, no more than 200 can be served. So, call
early and we hope to see you there for a fun evening.
