EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE:
Greetings all,
Hard to believe that the fall is gone and the winter is upon us, but things are just heating up at Lodge 997. After a very busy
November, filled with events such as Polish Night, Veterans Dinner, and Turkey Night as well as all the usual events, we continue
to move forward. Many thanks to all that made these events successful by your help, or by attending them.
December starts out with Memorial Sunday on December 4th at noon, preceded by a dedication of the Elk in the front of the
building as an Elks Rest. The Past Exalted Rulers Association of the Lodge has been working on this for over a year and it is a
wonderful tribute and monument for the members of 997.
We will be installing several new members into the order on December 6th, so if you plan on attending the dinner, please call or
stop in to sign up.
As mentioned in previous bulletins, there are two membership numbers somewhere hidden in The Bulletin, and will be in future
Bulletins, for a free ticket to the next Nationality Night. Good luck, look hard.
Congratulations to Burt Adams, the November Elk of the Month, thank you for your hard work.
Again, wishing you all have a safe and happy holiday season, hope to see you at the Lodge.
Fraternally,
John Glenowicz, PER
Exalted Ruler, 997
Secretaries Message:
I will be sending out the 2011-2012 dues for regular members just after the first of the year and for life members in December. If
you haven’t paid your 2010-2011 dues, please do so or you will be dropped from the rolls.
December is a busy month and we have tried to get everything on the calendars so please check them out. I would like to that all
the people who attended the Turkey Night, what a great meal! The following people won turkeys: Alison Lucey, Fran Sweeney,
James Zehelski, Ed Michalowski, Dick Parsons, Jim O’Connor, John Cotton, Jim Klepacki, Richard Balise, Gordon Daniels, Kristie
Sostre, Ray Capers, Linda Zeitler, Chalres Gleason, Al Cadette, Sue Doran, David LeBeau, Enace Lococo, John Leary and Tom
Luce. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who participated.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!!!!
Fraternally,
Sylvia Zakrzewski
Annual PER Meeting:
The annual PER meeting of the Northampton Elks will be January 2nd at 6:00 at the lodge. We will be need to plan the annual
PER night as well as discuss any other ideas to pass along to the lodge.
Greg Zak, PER
Christmas Raffle:
Just a reminder that if you would like to take part in the Christmas Raffle, tickets must be returned to the lodge by December
17th. Please remember, funds raised from the turkey raffle and the Christmas raffle help cover the cost of a food basket for
someone in need. With the current economy, there are a lot of families in need of help during this time of year. The baskets
provide a family with a complete turkey dinner, including a pie for dessert. If you know of someone who could use this, stop by the
lodge, fill out card and you can come by the lodge on December 17th & pick up the basket and deliver it. It really can make a big
difference for someone going through a difficult time.
Veteran’s Update:
Well the lodge has done it again! What a Veterans Night on November 10th. We served about 120 veterans on our yearly
dinner and they were stuffed. Scotty’s meatloaf has done it again with many feedbacks and a couple of offers to live with him so
he can do the cooking for the veterans. We wish to thank all of the members that helped that evening from the prep people,
cookie bakers, set-up, wheel workers, clean-up crew and the Boy Scouts that served the meal and bussed the dishes. It seems
that every year we get more and more help and the veterans have a great time getting out of their rooms and coming down to
socialize and have a good cooked meal. We on the veterans committee are just overwhelmed with the lodge’s support this year.
THANK YOU ALL.
Also a word of thanks to Zak and Todd who took a Saturday to clean up the Adams Veterans’ Memorial on Florence Road from
the broken tree limbs to a fall clean-up.
Congratulations to John Kingsley for receiving an award from the Veteran’s Administration for the Adopt-A-Vet Program to see
that they receive a card and cake on their birthdays.
With the Holidays approaching, please remember to keep our veterans in mind from a simple holiday greeting to a monetary
donation for the holidays. Once again we Thank You all for your continued support.
Veterans Committee

Buck-A-Week Dinner:
The following people were lucky winners at the biannual
drawing held on October 20th. Congratulations to them and a
special thanks to all the kitchen crew who helped in so many
ways to make the dinner another huge success. The meal
was great and all the workers deserve another round of
applause. Al Scott and his crew stepped up to the plate and
fed everyone when it initially appeared we were going to be
short on meals. Thanks again Al!!
