IN MEMORIAM 1934~John “Jack” Welch~2011

EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE:
Members,
Hard to believe we are into the fall already, but the Friday Night dinners are doing great, and are available to all members, and
guests. Why not bring a friend to dinner and show them what we are about. I am pleased to announce that our District Deputy
pre-visit went very well, all our facilities and programs are operating as they should. Many thanks to all of you that came to assist
in it. The next installation of new members will be on October 4, 2011. If you haven't been in a while, it will also be the visitation of
the District Deputy and the dinner will be at 6:00, but you must sign up in the Lodge.
I am pleased to announce and thank PER Greg Zakrzewski , the September Elk of the month for all he has done for our Lodge,
above and beyond what a committee person does. On August 28, due to all the rain in the area, the Lodge was in threat of
flooding. Greg, along with Al Scott, Sam Lococo, and myself, prepared and put sand bags in the doors, as well as picking any
property of the Lodge off the floor to prevent destruction in what might have become a costly situation. Fortunately, the water
never entered the Lodge, but was very close. These are some of the things that make the Elk of the Month.
I have been questioned many times regarding this honor, and I, as other Exalted Rulers, have others that assist and make
recommendations for this title. All members are appreciative of all the committees and the work they do, it is often times difficult to
make this decision, but it is just the little extra, or a lot of extra the makes them stand out to myself, and those that assist me in
the decision. Again, Thank you Greg.
Thank you to all of you that assisted making Farmers Night a success, and look forward to seeing you at Italian Night on Tuesday
October 10. This Committee works very hard to provide a great meal of authentic cuisine, and advance ticket purchase are
highly recommended. Don't be shut out, buy them early.
Keep an eye on your bulletin next month, as we are working on a little benefit to those of you that read this, and tell others too
also, can't say any more at this time, will keep you posted.
Fraternally,
John Glenowicz, PER
Exalted Ruler, 997
Secretaries Message:
I don’t know where September went but here comes October!
We attended a very informative DD Clinic on Friday, September 23rd at the Westfield Lodge. It was good to see all our brothers
and sisters from other lodges.
We recently lost another member so our membership is down to 586 with 55 delinquent members. Please, if you have not paid
your 2011-2012 dues, send it in.
If you missed our first Nationality Night, Farmer’s Night, you missed a good spread. Don’t lose out on the next Nationality Night,
Italian Night, it is going to be a delicious meal as usual so get your tickets before they are all sold out!
In this mailing you will find the annual Turkey Raffle tickets so drop them off with your donation in the box provided in the lounge
area of the club or mail them in.
Fraternally,
Sylvia Zakrzewski
Bi-annual Buck-A-Week Dinner:
The bi-annual Buck-a-Week Dinner and drawing will be held on Thursday October 20th, 2011 at the Lodge. Please notice that
the date is on Thursday, not a Friday. This change is to accommodate our caterer. Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. Due to
the popularity of this function and in order to seat as many people as possible, only ticket holders may participate.
Unfortunately, guests can no longer be invited. Also, it is mandatory that if you plan to attend you make a reservation prior to
the cut-off date of Friday October 14, 2011 at 5:00 PM. Because of the limited seating capacity, no more than 200 can be
served. So, call early and we hope to see you there for a fun evening.

Turkey Raffle Tickets:
As you can see, enclosed with this months bulletin are the
tickets for the annual turkey raffle. The revenue generated
by these tickets, along with the turkey dinner and the
Christmas raffle, help to defray the cost of the food baskets
that the lodge donates to families in need. Any lodge
member who knows of someone in need can submit that
person’s information to the lodge and a food basket
containing: a turkey, a loaf of bread, potatoes, squash,
cranberry sauce, gravy, butter, milk and pie will be assembled
for request submitted to the lodge. We just ask that the
person requesting the basket please deliver it.
Friday Night Dinners:
Dinners have resumed and remain quite popular. We hope
that our volunteer kitchen staff was able to relax and have
some fun during the summer break because the members are
ready to put you all back to work on Friday evenings! And
Linda’s cookies have been missed. Please remember that on
the Friday before a holiday weekend, we will not be serving
dinner. There will be no dinner on Friday October 7th, due to
the Columbus Day holiday on Monday October 10th.
Nationality Night:
Italian Night is coming! Tuesday October 11th @ 6:00 pm,
please join us for a little taste of Italy. The evening will begin
with a tasty buffet filled with the flavors of Italy. Follow the
delicious buffet with a wonderful meal featuring our chef’s best
Italian cuisine. There will be raffles and games of chance.
Tickets are just $12 per person and are available at the lodge in
the members lounge area. Bring family and friends, the more
the merrier! Mangiare! (Eat Up!)
